AI-Action-based Workshop Recap for Innovative Leaders

The CHOA × InnoEdge executive workshop, “Let the Power of Smiles Enter the Enterprise through AI‑Empowered Design Thinking,” held on 2 March, was an intensive 4‑hour leadership innovation lab for business innovative leaders. Co‑organized by the Chief Happiness Officer Association (CHOA) and InnoEdge Consulting, the session reframed employee happiness and well‑being not as “soft” initiatives, but as strategic innovation assets—key levers for resilience, adaptability, and business performance, all amplified by AI‑Empowered Design Thinking Method (Details).

Led by Ms. Mary Suen, Chairman of CHOA, Mr. David Chung, Founder of InnoEdge Consulting, and Mr. Paul Lee, Senior Partner of InnoEdge Consulting, the workshop blended strategic foresight, practical leadership frameworks, and real‑world transformation cases.

From Well‑Being Initiative to Innovation Engine

Participants began by examining the critical dimensions of employee well‑being and happiness and how these shape four major aspects of organizational performance: Engagement and retention, Creativity and problem‑solving, Innovation capacity and speed and business impacts.

The following reflections capture the key insights and developmental gains of 4 participants resulting from their involvement in this course.

The facilitators challenged leaders to move beyond traditional HR metrics and instead connect people‑centric drivers—such as psychological safety, recognition, autonomy, and growth opportunities—directly to measurable organizational outcomes. This shift in mindset positioned happiness as a deliberate strategic design choice, not a by‑product. For innovative leaders, “smiles at work” are reframed as leading indicators of innovation readiness, cultural resilience, and long‑term value creation.

A Practical Blueprint for AI‑Empowered Leadership Transformation

Building on this foundation, the workshop introduced AI‑empowered Design Thinking through the 6D Model – a practical, end‑to‑end roadmap for leaders who want to embed innovation and well‑being into everyday business practice:

  • Determine – Pinpoint the strategic challenge, vision, and success metrics
  • Discover – Uncover deep employee insights, emotions, and pain points with AI‑supported inquiry
  • Define – Synthesize data to frame the core problem worth solving, not just its symptoms
  • Develop – Co‑create innovative solution concepts that blend human empathy with AI‑generated possibilities
  • Deliver – Translate concepts into tangible initiatives, pilots, and experiments that can be quickly tested and iterated
  • Drive – Embed solutions into the organization, ensuring sustainable implementation, cultural adoption, and measurable impact.

Throughout the journey, AI Design Thinking agents systematically supported leaders as they moved through the 6D cycle: clarifying the challenge, understanding stakeholders, generating insights, ideating, and prioritizing the most impactful solutions for delivery and long‑term value creation. A key highlight of the workshop was a hands‑on leadership challenge framed around a timely strategic question:

AI‑Empowered Design Thinking in Action

The AI Design Thinking Agents move systematically through the 6D model: clarifying the challenge, understanding stakeholders, generating insights, co‑creating ideas, and prioritizing the most impactful solutions for delivery and long‑term impact.

The workshop showcased how 6 carefully curated AI Design Thinking agents (www.DesignThinkers.AI) —selected from a powerful library of 150+ agents (www.DesignThinking.Tools)—can systematically move through the 6D model. Participants were introduced to a suite of AI Design Thinking agents that support each stage of the innovation and change process. These tools illustrated how AI can function as an always‑on strategic partner for innovative leaders—helping to clarify complexity, accelerate insight generation, and de‑risk strategic decision‑making:
