The seminar titled “Innovate Smarter, Build Prototypes Faster: How AI Accelerates Product Innovation” was successfully held on 20 December 2025 at the Multi-function Hall, Alumni Atrium, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The event was co-hosted by DesignThinkers Academy China (DTA China) and the Hong Kong Design Trade Association (HKDTA) to explore how artificial intelligence can be leveraged to enhance innovation processes and accelerate product development. The seminar was conducted in Cantonese (粵語), complemented by English presentation slides.
The 1-hour seminar was divided into five parts. Please find below the overview and the link for the video recording for each part:
Part 1: Introduction of the Hong Kong Design Trade Association
The first part was delivered by Prof. Alan Yip, Chairman of HKDTA, who outlined the Association’s mission, vision, and key initiatives. [Video Recap]
Part ２: Introduction of DesignThinkers Academy China
The second part was conducted by Mr. David Chung, Dean & Co‑Founder of DesignThinkers Academy China, who provided an overview of DTA China, its training philosophy, and its work in driving innovation through design thinking. [Video Recap]
Part ３: AI Design Thinking and Social Listening Technologies
The third part focused on AI Design Thinking methodologies and one of the most powerful AI tools presented during the seminar: social listening technologies. The speakers demonstrated how these tools can collect user opinions across an entire city in just 30 minutes and shared successful Hong Kong case studies in which AI‑driven design thinking helped shorten project timelines by up to 95%. Part ４: Advanced AI Prototyping Techniques
Mr. Paul Chan, Vice Chairman of HKDTA, led the fourth part. He introduced advanced AI prototyping techniques that can generate 3D prototypes within minutes, including all parts and components, enabling rapid iteration and further improvement of product concepts. [Video Recap]
Part ５: Q&A Session: Balancing Speed, Quality, and the Human Role
The final part was an interactive Q&A session. Participants were particularly interested in balancing prototype quality and development speed, as well as the evolving role of humans in an innovation ecosystem where AI enables faster, smarter product development. [Video Recap]
