[1] Strategic Overview of the AI-Empowered Design Thinking Program
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the 1-day AI‑Empowered Design Thinking Fundamentals Course, hosted by Designthinkers Academy Hong Kong (DTA HK) on the evening of 10 April and the full day of 11 April 2026 in Hong Kong.
The program was expertly facilitated by two Certified Design Thinking Facilitators, Mr. David Chung and Ms. Tiffany Liu, who led participants through an intensive, practice-driven journey to turn Design Thinking and AI methodologies into tangible business outcomes.
[2] Integrating AI Design Thinking Agents into Innovation Teams
Participants engaged in hands-on collaboration with more than 8 specialized AI Design Thinking Agents, selected from a library of 150 AI DT Agents (shown below). From the Discover stage through to the Deliver stage (shown below), these AI Agents operated as fully integrated members of the innovation teams, co‑creating insights, concepts, and solutions in real time for impact.
In addition, all participants practiced using the MEGA prompts for the 8 major Design Thinking tools, together with leading Generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, MS Copilot, Grok and DeepSeek.
[3] Elevating Human Judgment Through AI-Augmented Practice
Crucially, the course emphasized that AI is an accelerator, not a replacement for human judgment. Participants were challenged to leverage AI for speed and breadth, while using human wisdom and strategic intuition to frame problems, set direction, and make critical decisions.
This balance was further reinforced through live empathy interviews with real users related to each team’s challenge statement. These interactions deepened participants’ understanding of user needs and anchored innovation in authentic human experience, highlighting the unique value of human empathy and contextual insight in guiding AI.
[4] Applying AI-Enabled Design Thinking to High-Impact Sectors
To anchor the workshop in real-world impact, participants worked with sector-based case studies spanning Community development, Aviation, Transportation, ESG, and Healthcare, with examples from both local and global contexts.
These cases demonstrated how leading organizations employ AI‑enabled Design Thinking to reinvent products and services, reframe complex challenges, and unlock new value pools. By analyzing both concrete successes and instructive failures, participants identified repeatable patterns, critical levers for change, and practical guardrails for responsible, human-centered innovation.
[5] Participant Reflections and Momentum for Future Impact
By embedding AI capability directly into an action-based learning experience, the workshop significantly elevated the quality of problem framing, solution design, and decision-making. Teams experienced a clear step change in execution velocity, as AI-augmented Design Thinking enabled them to:
- Explore broader solution spaces more rapidly
- Test and iterate concepts with greater precision
- Make higher-quality, data-informed decisions in compressed timeframes
By the end of the workshop, each participant was invited to summarize their learning in ONE word. These one-word reflections collectively expressed themes such as Amazed, Enrichment, Inspire and Frutiful (shown below).
They signal not only enhanced capability, but also a renewed readiness to apply AI‑Empowered Design Thinking within their own organizations—driving more innovative, human-centered, and resilient responses to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
