Part 1: Overview

We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of the first class of the DesignThinkers Academy (DTA) AI-Enhanced Design Thinking for Life Coaching in Life Transition Course (3-Day), held on 12 April 2025 in Hong Kong.

This groundbreaking program was co-developed by DAVID Chung (Dean of DTA China), Tiffany Liu (Program Lead, DTA China), and Paul Lee (Program Lead, DTA China). David Chung expertly facilitated the workshop, guiding participants through a transformative journey of self-discovery, creativity, and purposeful action.


Part 2: Learning Journey

The workshop provided an immersive and practical approach, enabling participants to develop advanced life coaching capabilities and support their mentees in navigating mid-life transitions. The structured journey included:

  1. Re-examining Priorities: Facilitating mentees to critically evaluate the urgency and importance of their life and career goals.
  2. Uncovering Barriers: Using advanced research questioning techniques to identify psychological barriers hindering mentees’ breakthroughs in life and career.
  3. Collaborative Ideation: Co-creating with mentees to develop innovative and diverse perspectives for achieving life and career goals.
  4. Identifying Gaps: Helping mentees pinpoint significant gaps between their aspirations and reality before crafting actionable plans.
  5. Human-AI Synergy: Exploring how to create a synergistic effect by integrating human coaching and AI technologies for transformative results.


Part 3: AI Tools in Action

This pioneering program integrates Design Thinking principles with AI-enhanced tools, equipping life coaches and training professionals with a creative and structured framework to:

  1. Reimagine the future of their mentees.
  2. Overcome challenges and psychological barriers.
  3. Enable actionable steps toward a fulfilling, purpose-driven life and career.


Part 4: Life & Career Transition Skill Assessment

Participants underwent a 360-degree skill assessment based on Design Thinking principles, evaluating their abilities across 10 core competencies essential for life and career planning. These included skills such as embracing uncertainty and risk, self-empathy, creative problem-solving, and decision-making with limited information. The assessment used a 5-point scale, combining self-evaluations and peer feedback to provide a balanced perspective on strengths and areas for improvement.

Results were visualized using bar charts to compare individual and peer evaluations and radar charts to illustrate the overall distribution of competencies. This process enabled participants to identify key areas for growth and develop actionable strategies to enhance their skills, supporting their journey toward meaningful and successful life transitions.

Part 5: Summary of Participant Feedback

The post-class evaluation highlighted participants’ positive experiences and their commitment to applying the training insights in their work and lives. Key takeaways included adopting a systematic approach to handling life transitions, increasing empathy, and integrating design learning tools into daily practices. Participants appreciated practical frameworks such as the Now, Next, Future Map and emphasized the importance of learning by doing and applying tools. Many expressed motivation to explore new methods, improve coaching practices, and adapt to uncertainty with confidence. Overall, the feedback reflected a strong sense of inspiration and readiness to implement the learnings effectively.

Part 6: Conclusion

The workshop empowered participants to play a pivotal role in guiding mentees through mid-life transitions with clarity, confidence, and creativity.
