On February 21-22, 2025, participants from various cities across China came together to embark on a transformative learning journey. This course, conducted by our certified facilitators – Mr. David Chung, Ms. Angel Choy, and Ms. Lillian Chan – was truly groundbreaking as it marked the first-ever FULLY integration of AI techniques and technologies into the Double Diamond (or 4D) Design Thinking execution process. This milestone represents a significant leap forward in combining human creativity with the efficiency and power of artificial intelligence, paving the way for a new era of innovation.
This course combined the best of both worlds: a Human-Centered Mindset to fully empathize with users’ in-depth needs and create meaningful solutions and AI Techniques and Technologies to accelerate and enhance every phase of the design process. Participants experienced how fully integrated AI tools can amplify problem-solving, foster creativity, and enable seamless collaboration, bringing innovation to life with greater precision, speed, and impact.
💡 Here’s how AI was fully integrated into the Double Diamond Design Thinking process:
- Social Listening: Analyze user sentiment, trends, and behaviors from large datasets to gain macro-level insights that refine focus areas and enhance problem understanding. [Details]
- GPT: Automates analysis of qualitative data, identifies patterns, and supports stakeholder mapping to generate actionable insights and refine problem statements. [Details]
- DALL-E: Creates high-quality visuals like personas, journey maps, and concept prototypes from text descriptions, bringing abstract ideas to life visually. [Details]
- Stormz: Facilitates real-time, structured collaboration for brainstorming, idea generation, and prioritization, making ideation more inclusive and accessible. [Details]
- AICG: Transform 2D concepts into dynamic 3D prototypes, enabling interactive, immersive testing and feedback to refine solutions. [Details]
- Post-it App: This app digitizes physical brainstorming outputs, preserving ideas and enabling teams to revisit and refine them digitally. [Details]
- Miro: Acts as a comprehensive collaboration platform, streamlining workflows, brainstorming, prototyping, and stakeholder alignment across all stages of Design Thinking. [Details]
The course also featured 10 carefully curated global-to-local case studies, showcasing diverse industries and addressing complex challenges across ESG, engineering safety, healthcare, community development, banking and financial services, aviation, railway transportation, energy efficiency, and more. These case studies provided participants with practical, real-world scenarios to apply AI-enhanced Design Thinking tools, fostering innovative solutions and insights across a wide range of sectors.
By fully integrating AI into every stage of the innovation process, this course empowered participants to push the boundaries of traditional Design Thinking, unlocking new possibilities to create user-centered solutions with cutting-edge efficiency. Moreover, the collaboration between participants from various cities across China fostered a dynamic exchange of ideas, making this course a truly co-creative and immersive experience.
