[1] Launch of the 2026 DTA Design Facilitator Certification Cohort
DesignThinkers Academy (DTA) Design Facilitator Certification Training 2026 was successfully conducted from 19–20 June 2026 in Hong Kong, China. The intensive two‑day program was led by Mr. David Chung, Dean, DTA China, and Mr. Paul Lee, Program Lead, DTA China.
A select group of twelve participants joined from three leading Hong Kong universities, a government institute, a non‑profit organization, and major business enterprises. This diverse cohort reflects DTA’s commitment to building a cross‑sector community of design leaders capable of driving innovation and transformation within complex stakeholder environments.
[2] Commencement of the DTA Certified Facilitator Assessment Journey
The class marked the formal commencement of 6-weeek DTA Certified Facilitator Practice and Assessment Journey. Throughout the program, participants were not only introduced to, but also actively practiced, facilitating teams using the eight core tools of the AI‑empowered Design Thinking methodology.
Working on real‑world, context‑relevant challenges, they learned to structure problem framing, guide collaborative sense‑making, and orchestrate co‑creation sessions that move teams from insight to action. This hands‑on approach ensured that participants left with both conceptual clarity and immediate, practical facilitation skills.
[3] Integrating AI into the Design Thinking Practices
To align with today’s rapidly evolving AI landscape, participants were strongly encouraged to integrate AI tools—particularly generative AI—throughout their problem‑solving and design activities. AI was leveraged for tasks such as rapid user insight clustering, scenario exploration, idea generation, and early‑stage concept refinement.
The outcomes clearly demonstrated that embedding AI within the Design Thinking process can significantly enhance both effectiveness and depth of insight. Teams were better able to uncover underlying pain points, identify non‑obvious opportunity spaces, and explore a broader solution landscape, thereby generating more innovative, evidence‑informed concepts.
[4] Building Resilience for Innovation and Change Leadership
Beyond strengthening core innovation and facilitation capabilities, the program placed strong emphasis on equipping participants to manage disruption, ambiguity, and resistance during problem‑solving and change initiatives. Through role‑plays, case discussions, and guided reflection, they explored strategies for handling stakeholder pushback, aligning diverse interests, and maintaining momentum when initiatives inevitably encounter obstacles.
This resilience‑building component was highlighted as a critical competency for leaders who must steward innovation from idea to implementation, ensuring that solutions are not only designed well but also adopted, scaled, and sustained.
[5] Designing “Mind‑Setters” to Sustain High‑Performance Teams
Participants were also challenged to design targeted “mind‑setters”—intentional rituals, prompts, and facilitation techniques to sustain team energy, focus, and engagement across the innovation journey. They experimented with methods to create psychologically safe, purpose‑driven environments in which team members feel empowered to experiment, challenge assumptions, and learn from failure.
By deliberately cultivating such high‑energy, values‑aligned team cultures, participants learned how to increase willingness to take calculated risks, persevere through setbacks, and collaboratively navigate complex, multi‑stakeholder challenges.
[6] Conclusion: A Strong Foundation for AI‑Enabled Innovation Leadership
The successful completion of the DTA Design Facilitator Certification Training 2026 in Hong Kong represents an important milestone in expanding the region’s capacity for AI‑enabled innovation leadership. Participants concluded the program with a robust toolkit of Design Thinking methods, a practical understanding of how to embed AI into their facilitation practice, and strengthened confidence to lead cross‑functional teams through complex transformation efforts.

As they progress through their DTA Certified Facilitator Assessment Journey, these leaders are now well-positioned to translate what they have learned into tangible organizational impact—shaping more human‑centered, future‑ready solutions for their institutions and communities.
