[01] AI-Enabled Innovation Framework for Project Leaders
The Project Management Institute Hong Kong (PMI HK) – InnoEdge Consulting program “AI‑Empowered Design Thinking for Project Managers,” held on 11 July 2026 and opened by Mr. Joseph Chan, Vice President of PMI HK.
The course equips project leaders with practical, AI-enabled Design Thinking methods and showcases 4 distinctive AI Agents (of Design Thinking and Project Management) that strengthen decision-making, anticipate and mitigate risks, and accelerate delivery of measurable, high‑impact project outcomes.
[02] Human-Centered Stakeholder and People Leadership
Mr. Joseph Chan, Vice President of PMI HK, underscored that the primary challenge in project management lies in stakeholder engagement and people leadership, rather than in processes alone. He positioned Design Thinking, as a human-centered innovation discipline, as a powerful complement for engaging diverse stakeholders, aligning expectations, and addressing this critical people dimension.

And researchers also note that integrating the Design Thinking stages of immersion, ideation, and prototyping into the initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing phases of the project lifecycle creates a seamless, end-to-end framework for human-centered project delivery (shown above).
[03] Applied AI Design Thinking in Project Delivery
The Managing Partner of InnoEdge, Mr. David Chung, served as course leader, leveraging diverse Design Thinking–driven project management case studies from business, social service, and community development sectors to demonstrate how AI-enabled Design Thinking can be systematically integrated into day-to-day project management practice.
[04] Three-Tier AI Capability Building for Project Managers
One of the distinctive features of this course is its structured, three-level capability-building model. The foundational level strengthens participants’ mindsets and skill sets in 4 core Design Thinking techniques for project management: stakeholder mapping, persona development, ideation, and project risk assessment.
The second level enables participants to apply 4 sets of advanced “mega prompts” with leading generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and DeepSeek) to increase the speed and quality of these techniques.
The third level demonstrates how project managers can orchestrate 4 specialized AI agents (shown in the above 2-min video) to execute these activities autonomously, freeing leaders to focus on strategic judgment, stakeholder alignment, and value realization. This AI-augmented approach enhances scalability, consistency, and responsiveness across complex project portfolios.
[05] AI Agents for Project Risk Assessment
An innovative outcome of this course is the co‑development of a first‑ever AI agent for Project Risk Assessment (within the Body of Knowledge of “Operation an Effective Risk Response System PMBOK Guide (8th edition)”) within an AI‑empowered Design Thinking–based execution framework.
This AI Agent adds significant value to the existing pool of our 150 AI agents for Design Thinking and demonstrates how customized AI Agents can be configured for specific domains or industries, such as project management. Looking ahead, we plan to extend this model to additional domains and industries, leveraging the existing 150 AI agents for Design Thinking as a scalable foundation.
