Course Overview
DesignThinkers Academy (DTA) Design Thinking Awareness Course aims to give you an understanding of the Design Thinking approaches and an innovative mindset that can have for your business transformations and organizational change. The content of this course can be tailored for large groups and are ideal for Team Co-creation activities.
Participants will be able to confidently apply Design Thinking to services and products thanks to our ‘learning-by-doing’ method. This will stimulate lots of energy and engagement among participants.
Course Outcome
(1) Bring Design Thinking principles into working practices: There are five skill-practices lessons in this course, and they consist of a brief introduction to Design Thinking and how to efficiently bring Design Thinking concepts, principles, techniques, and tools into daily working practices. Five Design Thinking techniques (as below) will be learned and practiced during the course.

(2) Master Design-driven Innovation framework: This course provides a design-driven innovation and problem-solving process that can be used when building a value-driven business in your organization
(3) Experience the “Learning by doing” approach: Participants will experience the importance of empathy and research into the end-user within various DT processes.

Half-Day | 4 hours with a 15-minute break

Lesson Plan and Content
Lesson 1: Overview of Design Thinking for creative problem-solving
- Understand the principle of Design Thinking and the importance of user-centered Innovation
- Recognize the three core values of Design Thinking – Empathy, Co-Creation, and Iteration
- Know the 4-sep implementation framework of Design Thinking – Double Diamond model
Lesson 2: Discovering the critical stakeholders and information about the challenges
- Determine the major stakeholders of the problems
- Understand the experience with relevant emotions and expectations of the major stakeholders
Lesson 3: Defining the root cause(s) of the challenges and turning them into opportunities
- Identify the critical pain points and expectations of the users
- Identify the significant root cause and turn it into new opportunities
Lesson 4: Developing innovative ideas through different ideation methods
- Develop creative ideas through different ideation ways
- Prioritize their developed ideas with varying aspects
Lesson 5: Delivering the idea pitching for their selected innovative ideas
- Transfer the selected ideas into concrete and actionable solutions
- Present their idea in a professional manner
